TASK 3 - WWW LESSON PLAN









THE ADVENTURE TO THE WONDERS OF THE WORLD!


LEVEL - Form 4, Intermediate level

TIME - 1 hour 10 minutes (double period)

AIMS - To find specific information on the website, to locate the use of preposition in the site.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

One computer per group of 2-3 students with an Internet connection and a Web Browser.

PREPARATION:

1. Locate sites dedicated to information about the '7 Wonders of the World'.

2. Using information on the site, prepare worksheets.

PROCEDURE:

1. Ask the students the names of the '7 Wonders of the World'. Ask the students the country that the places are located. Ask them to write on the whiteboard.

2. Give the students the worksheets that have been prepared. Ask them to identify the name of the places by looking at the picture in the worksheet. Tell the students that the detailed description of the '7 Wonders of the World' are available online.

3. Send the students to the website chosen, ask them to complete the task sheet given with brief description of the places (main points). Ask them to work cooperatively to locate the information on the web. Remind them that they can ask the teacher if they are facing any difficulties.

4. Ask the students to write down the prepositions that are used in the site. Ask them to identify the types of preposition used (e.g. Preposition of Place, Preposition of Time).

5. When all the students have finished with their work, discuss their findings. Ask the students to present their findings to the class and share the information they have found in the website.


FOLLOW-UP:

1. Elicit from the students that do they know there are new wonders of the world besides the ones they are discussing in the lesson.

2. Ask the students to find out about the new wonders of the world by browsing the websites on the Internet for the information. Teacher gives the students a few websites that can help the students in finding the information such as National Geographic website (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/07/photogalleries/seven-wonders/index.html) and New 7 Wonders website.

3. The information gathered will be discussed in the next lesson.
